Hi to everyone.
Is there any guide about the configuration of IPM and stand alone ESXI host?
Thank you.

Hi all,
I'm looking to replace some tower servers with blade / rack mount servers in the coming months.
I have aSmart-UPS RT 6000 XL currently supporting my rack and 2 towers servers.
http://www.apc.com/shop/vn/en/products/APC-Smart-UPS-RT-6000VA-230V/P-SURT6000XLI
I have 2 x horizontal 12 C13 PDUs in my rack, connected to the UPS via the 2 C19 connections on the back. In order to add additional servers to my rack, I need some available C13 sockets. At the moment I only have 1 free (in the rack).
I'd like to expand the number of available C13 sockets in my rack without replacing the PDUs, if possible. Looking at the back of my UPS, I have 8 free C13 sockets. I assume these are available to be used and I know connecting to these using some extra long power cables could be an option but not ideal.
My question is, can you get C13 PDUs that run...
Has anybody ever seen or encountered a UPS that magically started drawing much more current than even the load attached ?
I'm dealing with this weird issue where a breaker has tripped twice.....and the load on the UPS itself is only at 1/4 or less. The frequency of the breaker trip is not chronic. The 1st time, I chalked it to a flue. 5-6 months later, it tripped again. No change in enviroment or load.
Hello everyone, last week I bought an Eaton UPS model E5 2000IUSB I'm having some issues that maybe you can help me out with.
I'm needing to replace a UPS that just died for my two servers (dell 710, dell 730 with dual power supplies). While shopping, I also want to get a UPS that i can have my network gear (3 poe switches, router, modem) on. I was thinking of two seperate devices since the servers are in a rack and the network gear is mounted in a separate wall cage. Any suggestions or recommendations?
Heyo,
So I have an APC InRow cooling system that was recently recharged and is now in use. We have issues with our server room AC unit(and management wont fork over cash to replace it of course) so I really need to have alerts set up to email me whenever temperatures reach a certain threshold. I have set up APC alerts many a time, but for some reason this guy will not work.
We have a Smart-UPS 2200XL protecting our server rack. We recently added some new equipment (a PowerEdge R610 and a PowerVault drive array) and now the UPS overload LED is on, and once per day it beeps at us for a minute or so.
The thing is, according to the integrated current meter in the rack's power bar, we're consuming 8 amps. There's nothing else plugged into the UPS. Isn't this unit rated for a little over 18 amps?
2200 VA rating / 120 volts = 18.3 amps
This should be less than half of its rated load... any ideas? Is the UPS bad? Thanks for any tips.
Everything plugged into the UPS:
1x PowerEdge R710
1x PowerEdge R610
1x PowerVault MD1000 drive array (completely filled)
1x PowerEdge 2950 III
1x Older Pentium 4 PC
1x Rackmount monitor+keyboard+mouse
1x Cable modem
I don't believe this should be excessive for this UPS unit?
Hello! We've bought a Eaton 9PX 6000i and I'm trying to configure our server to shutdown when battery is low (i'm really unexperienced with ups).
In the server with the IPM I can see the Power Source and the other servers with IPP installed, but in the servers with IPP I can't set/configure the Power Source (don't know if shutdown works without the power source configured).
Only the server with IPM is connected with the Eaton via a AM x BM cable, is there a way to make other servers discover the power source? Do I need a network card?
Thanks u all!
(sorry 4 bad english, not my native language)
I have 4 new APC UPS batteries left from a project. Is there other uses for them besides a UPS?
Hello.
Is there posibility to gracefully shut down 2 node hyperconverged vSAN 6.6 cluster on vSphere 6.5 (HA enabled) connected to two Eaton UPS with basic licence of IPM (v 1.55 build 176).
In IPM I have only options to shutdown or maintenance ESXi host but it didn't work correctly, i need vcenter as target. Recommended sequence is disable HA, shut down VM's except vCenter, shutdown vCenter, place ESXi into into maintenance, shutdown ESXi. Is it possible with basic licence or do I need silver licence for 2 devices?
Thank for you reply.
Martin
Hi All,
Came in this morning to notice that our APC UPS (model: DL5000RMI5U) is making an internal clicking noise. We've got in touch with a supplier about getting a management card so we can log on to the device and see what's going on but as you can imagine we're relatively concerned in the short term.
We've got no warning lights on the device, the battery is fully charged and the load on the device is sitting at about 50%. Nothing out of the ordinary. Has anyone on here experienced similar and have any advice on how we should proceed?
Thanks,
Elliot
Hi,
I'm looking for some guidance and recommendations on how to configure Eaton IPM for my particular setup.
First, here's what I've got:
2 x Eaton 5PX2200RTN 5PX 1950VA Tower/Rack Mountable UPS
2 x Eaton 5PX R/t 48V Ext Bat Pk 2U
1 x Eaton EATS120, 1U Horizontal 10 Outlets eATS ePDU
The ATS is set up for dual-feed UPS. Here is a diagram:
The PDU is a dual circuit. One source is going to the ATS and the other goes to utility power. Then each serverwith redundant power supplies only draws power from the UPS for one of its PSUs when the power goes out.
On the server side, I have a 2-node hyperconverged Hyper-V cluster. Each hypervisor node runs StarWind VSAN to provide highly available storage. In order to avoid having to do a full synchronization when I need to reboot a node, I have a PowerShell script that will flush the StarWind cache and...
Hello,
I am trying to work out how to get Intelligent Power Manager to shutdown my virtual machines gracefully.
I have added the VMWARE connector in the Infrastructure Connector and it has added the VM's in the nodes.
I have added a Shutdown Policy so that it will shutdown the VM's and the machine.
I then created a action/target so that it will shutdown guest vms first, then host.
However when I go toTest Shutdown in Infrastructure Connectors - the Virtual Machine server just shuts down without gracefully shutting down the VM's.
Can someone help me and tell me what am I doing wrong?
Also is there anyway to start up the physical server again, when the Power is restored?
Hi,
I'm finding it difficult to find the right UPS. I don't need a long run time. But I do need double-conversion, a network management interface AND for it to fit in 1 or 2 units of rack space in a comms rack thats only 60cm deep. It seems to be the combination of double-conversion and short depth that's tricky to find. The rack cabinet is securely bolted onto a strong wall so it can take the additional weight of a 20KG UPS so thats not a worry.
The application is for a small office where the power is known to be dirty. We're also putting a PoE switch into the same comms rack. The PoE power budget is almost 200W although its only going to be used for 8 phones, a WiFI AP and 2 cameras. We really don't need a long runtime in the event of a power outage. To give the laptop and VoIP phone users 1-2 minutes of grace time is great but needing...
We've a real head scratcher going on here. But first, let me tell you what we've got going on.
First, we've two datacenters, Wichita and McPherson. We're a VMware shop, with SRM set up between the two datacenters.
Recently we did a power outage exercise at Wichita, with a host of machines failing over to McPherson. So fat so good.
Here's out timeline:
I've pretty well excluded internal VM power settings and anything VMware tools might be doing from this problem.
Theory-All the machines began going to sleep at about the same time. Here's the...
Not sure if it's possible or if I am doing something wrong. I have a UPS I recieved from a client. It apparently just died.
I pulled batterys and both are dead. I plugged the ups in and checked voltage were they connect to the batterys. It starts at 500mV or so and slowly drains down. Gets to 10mV and starts going much slower.
Seeing as how I'm not receiving 24v or even 1v I assume the UPS itself is bad. Or is there an error to my testing method?
Thanks
I forget the admin password of the EATON ConnectUPS Web/SNMP Card
Is there anyway to reset it?
Good morning,I am the system administrator for a very small company 13 or so employees. We have a very basic setup. A single Dell server rack with the following items:
-Dell Poweredge R730
Server with dual power supplies
-Barracuda Backup
490
-Barracuda Message
Archiver 350
-Hikvison DVR security
Camera system powering three cameras over ethernet
-2 Netgear GS748T Smart
Network switches
- Linksys WRT3200
ACM wireless router
- Arris 6183 cable
modem -1 standard desktop monitor -1 KVM switch -2 APC
APC Smart-UPS XL 1400VA RM
and 2 extra battery pack units
Like I said pretty small setup. I have been with the company almost 2 years and most of the equipment I just listed was installed by me within 2mths after I started due to multiple hardware failures from a a power surge and overall aging equipment. We have had no no issues with...
All,
Happy Friday! Hope everyone is having a great week!
I am looking at the best battery backup/UPS options for our network room. I have 8 servers that will need to be powered, some stand along and a lot of virtual ones.
I need at least 30amp power supply, that can carry up to 2,000 watts for at least 15 minutes. Any suggestions? Brands and whatnot?
Hello,
I'm new to all this so please bear with me. I'm trying to configure network shutdown in my new VMware environment.
When I pull the plug on the UPS SRT-5000, the PCNS sends shutdown VM command and puts the 2xHosts into maintenance mode, but never gracefully shuts them down. I see both Hosts in the PowerChute Agents but when I click on the IP address, it times out.
Don't know how to get my 2 hosts to shutdown gracefully.
