Maybe a silly question, but whoever setup the office I am currently employed at decided to piggyback a UPS off of another one. The main UPS is showing signs of failure this morning and in order to reduce downtime, I'd like to remove the second UPS from the chain WITHOUT turning off the equipment it is powering. Is it ill advised to do this or will the UPS simply cut over to battery power?

Eaton 9130 UPS not UPSing - no power on battery
I have an Eaton 9130 which, when power is removed, shuts off the outlets immediately without warning and without error messages. The unit's Ethernet adapter keeps flashing and the fan keeps running for a bit, then it cuts off too. The battery shows it's got a charge, though when you attempt to test it, it says "Battery test can not be run now, try again later"
The confusing part is lack of error messages. I would expect that if the batteries were weak, there would be some indicator of it. I see that these units generally don't even power up if the battery is under voltage.
Assuming the world says "needs batteries" (which is quite expensive) - can the unit be tested by applying a high amperage battery source externally (read: a couple car batteries in series to supply the full 24 volts). These are lead acid, as are auto batteries.

Is it possible..
Is it possible to have the UPS tell the computer when the power goes out and then have the computer automatically hibernate?
I wouldn't want it to hibernate immediately, though, because I might be doing something.. it should pop up with a dialog asking me if I want to hibernate and if I don't answer within, say, 5 minutes then it should hibernate automatically.
If it's possible, what UPS models can do this or how can I tell which ones do it for myself?

I am trying to find a suitable server room UPS, similar to an APC Symmetra, which I used at a previous job. The challenges I face are sizing one appropriately and finding one that can provide both 120V and 240V output.
Environment:
- 8 PowerEdge servers
- Mix of R515, R320 and R730 servers
- 2 PowerVault MD3220s
- 1 Fortigate firewall
- 1 Netgear switch
- 1 KVM

IPM eaton notification
Hi to all.
I have eaton powerware 5125 rm.
I have deploying intelligent power manager last version from OVA.
My ups connect with host ipm at ethernet extension card .
I'm configured email notification for all event's on my ups.
Afrer configuring email notification, a try to test that, for that i click to test event.
In ipm log says all fine, but i not recieve email.
Maybe who known , wtat i do wrong?

400 kva UPS Dc bus charging Issue
We Facing following problem in 400KVA
When initializing ----> capacitor charging ----> 100% charged ---> Turn on power -----> immediate main (utility ) breaker tripped OFF.
Dc bus voltage but there is no Dc voltage while this Dc bus charge card get damagewe already verify visual checkup of all cables, wires, correct polarities of Capacitors and wires numbers some time capacitors up to 100 DC get charges.
Required your support to solve the issues.

APC UPS Network Management Card 2 --> TLS 1.2 Only? NOPE.
We've got several APC UPSNetwork Management Card 2s in battery backup units. While they are on a separate management VLAN, I still like buttoning down stuff as much as possible. In this case, it is disabling unused services and enabling TLS 1.2 only for its HTTPS web UI.
Under Network Web Access, you have the option for "Minimum Protocol". I had set them to TLS 1.2 and rebooted them to enact the setting change. When scanning them with Rapid7 Nexpose and checking SSL connectivity via nmap, under firmware version 6.4.0, TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and even SSLv3 were all still enabled. WHAT THE HECK?!
So...what to do? Check for a firmware update. Oh, good, a version 6.5.0 came out this summer! Let's install that. Okay, set the "Minimum Protocol" setting back to TLS 1.2 (it had been reset to TLS 1.1 by the firmware update)and let's scan them again.

How to Making Dual Monitor Settings Default
Hi to All,
Good day. I am having a problem with one PC. the user wanted to configure his display settings to be default duplicate settings. The problem everytime he disconnects from the big screen with his laptop and later reconnects the laptop goes into extended settings mode.
My question is how can I configure duplicate to be default so that everytime he connects to the big screen he doesn't need to go to display settings and change it to duplicate.
Any advice would be great.

Chloride Apodys UPS Charger Current Limitation Adjustment
We replaced the 2 banks of batteries of our UPS with the following information:
Old: 108 nos. of Enersys Lead-acid type 6OPzV600 (705Ah) – each bank
New: 175 nos. of Alcad Ni-cad type MC200P (200Ah) – each bank
With the old battery, the charger’s current limitation is 0.1C (0.1*705 = 70.5A).
With the new battery, the charger’s current limitation will become 0.2C (0.2*200 = 40A).
Now my question is, do I need to change the current limitation of the charger and how?
If you could provide me the manual, I greatly appreciate it.
Another question is, will there be any other problems or issues on the UPS if I replace the current limitation of the charger and the battery specs?
I already sent my query to Vertivco (Emerson) but no response from them.

How to configure an HTTP notification on Tripp-Lite's SNMPWEBCARD

All the marketing and instructions for the SNMPWEBCARD elude to an HTTP contacts (notification) feature, yet I can't see how to get it to work...
I configured HTTP contacts, which when I right-click do successfully send the HTTP query to my server.
But then how to configure an event, such as "the UPS is on battery" to then trigger that HTTP contact?
It works great for emailing someone after an event - but what about HTTP contact?

EATON UPS Model 9355 not detected by IPM 1.54
My IPM ver 1.54 appliance used to manage a EATON UPS model 9355 but not anymore recent months.
UPS Firmware versionINV: 2.56 IFC: 1.20
Firmware RevisionConnectUPS Web/SNMP Card V4.36
Here is what I get when try address scan:
The IP address of the UPS is 172.16.44.110 which is reachable from the IPM appliance.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I tried a newer version is IPM 1.55 but got no luck.

Replacing UPS batteries
I'll need to replace batteries in APC Smart-UPS 3000 RM unit. I'm thinking of replacing the individual batteries instead of the battery pack. Are there any reputable vendors or brands to go with? Any precautions that need to be taken replacing individual batteries?

Is It bad to stack UPS's directly on top of each other in a rack, I know a considerable amount of heat is generated and can feeling it on the side of the cases and i didn't know if i should leave a slight space in between units.

UPS with Spiceworks compatability
We have one UPS which is dead and 2 more which are quote old which currently each connect to a couple of 48 port switches each. Previously, these have been managed by a different department, but they have recently revealed to us that they have not been doing this, and have no desire to do this. So, like a good boy, I am picking up the slack and want to monitor these devices myself.
We have this software called Spiceworks (anyone heard of it?). I want to ensure that whatever I select will be monitor-able through this software. If so, I am likely going to add a couple of rack mounted UPS we have also (APC UPS 3000 VA off the top of my head).
Does anyone have a recommendation so I can push this purchase in the right direction?

Eaton 5P/5PX battery countdown
I had to do an out of cycle battery replacement on a 5P today that was alarming for a failed battery pack and noticed that after replacing the battery pack, the battery lifetime as registered by the network card-ms on the web interface still indicated 11 months remaining and it did not reset to indicate that a new battery pack was installed. Turn on Appliance after Power Loss
Once you cut power to an power outlet, the appliance (ie TV) will not turn back on when power is restored to the plug. You have to push the ON button again on the TV. Is there is a solution for this?

Backup Batteries for IT Equipment
APC told me that to keep a Dell desktop computer and two monitors on a backup battery for 30 mins of uptime, it will cost about $700 for the APC UPS battery.
Does that sound about right?
I know all devices use a different amount of watts but I am looking for a rough estimate.
