For the Eaton 5S, how close is the output waveform on battery to a pure sine? I've seen comments on the web that its stepped as well as square. Also, any real world experience with problems using battery power? Half the internet says its fine, the other half says its going shut down the computer and/or break something.
If I had the choice, I would be looking for a unit with a pure sine output but I'm currently overseas in Papua New Guinea and the only local option is the Eaton 5S series.
The power grid has stability issues. Total Wattage I'm looking to cover is 200W (from max power on power supplies), so I'm looking at the 5S 700va/420W. The incidents I'm trying to mitigate are:
- 1-2 min periods of power loss when the grid drops and generator backup starts. I want to keep computer & LCD monitor up during that time
- Brownouts/voltage...
