HP R/T3000 G2 UPS Software
Hi Guys,
I'm looking for the software to install on a HP Proliant DL325 Windows 2019, for a HP R/T3000 G2 UPS. If anyone can point in the direction would be most grateful.
Thanks all.
Eaton 9130 log retention/rotation
We have 2 Eaton 9130 3000 units with each having a Eaton NetworkMS card installed.
The measurements log for those is extremely small, only keeping 340 lines of data. that means if the measurement time frame is set to 240 seconds you do not even get 24 hours of log data.
Is there any way to either have it retain more data or send the data to a log server?
For example APC units are able to send data to a syslog server.
1 UPS 3 servers 2 PS each
Hello all
after years of explaining that our old UPS system is horribly out of date, I have been allowed to purchase a new APC UPS. Currently, our old system is two controllers and multiple batteries, this was purchased over 10 years ago and was needed as back then they were hosting SQL, GP, Exchange and the websites through our server room. All of this is now in the cloud or hosted externally. We went from 10 servers down to 3 with assorted switches as well.
For now, they only allowed me to purchase one UPS and with a pseudo promise to allow another to be purchased next year.
What do I do with the PS connections from the server?
One to the new UPS and where should the other go?
Ideas?
Shallow (15 inch) 2200va rackmount UPS?
I'm looking to mount a UPS in a NEMA cabinet that has a hinged front so get behind the equipment. I've got about 15 inches from the rack rails back to work with. I've looked at the usual suspects and haven't found anything that will fit.
Anyone have a pointers to something like this?
Eaton 9355
I have five Eaton 9355 UPS, 20/30 kVA units.
I get Notice #248 On Generator. The unit is connected to the commercial power. How to I clear that notice?
Where could I obtain a list of Notices, and information on how to clear the notices?
Event #140 Charger Off, What is this indicating?
Where could i obtain a list of Events, and how to go about making corrections when needed, or clearing this messages, if I choose to?
Tripp Lite UPS with Auto Probe for small DCs
A while back David from Tripp Lite highlighted the availability of an "Auto Probe" feature to cycle ports or port groups based on Ping failure.
Looking for a recommendation for an alternative to an APC Smart-UPS 1500VA 120V and PDU15NETLX.

TrippLite SMART1500RMXL2Ua beeping with warning exclamation mark
I came into work this morning to discover that one of our new TrippLite UPSes had shutdown. I was able to turn it on, but it keeps an exclamation point and a continuous beep every few seconds.
Model: SMART1500RMXL2Ua
Series: AGSM7137
I'm extremely worried that it will shutdown again today or over the weekend.
I tried calling their support for the first time ever in my whole life, and they are apparently having a company function today. Technical support is completely closed. That's a bit upsetting to me, actually.
I tried using their PowerAlert console. It was able to locate the UPS after some struggles, but it doesn't provide any information on what the exclamation point means with the beeping sound.
Does anyone here have any ideas? Thank you!
Eaton IPM 1.66 update, communication with VCenter 6.5 appliance question
My Eaton IPM appliance was crashing. I am loading a new OVF. Adding the Infrastructure Connector for VCenter 6.5. "Communication Failed"
It fails on the VCenter root password. It fails whether I use IP Address or hostname. Thoughts?
For Eaton IPM to shut down ESXi, what ESXi role permissions are required?
I'm tasked with configuring IPM 1.65 to shut down the virtual machines hosted by a standalone VMware ESXi v6.7 host, then to shut down the host itself. To be clear, this host is the free version, not the ESXi managed by a centralized vSphere server.
(Edit: This is the standalone ESXi, not the VMCA-managed, more fully featured instance.)
These are my steps so far:
- Create a user in ESXi namedpowerquality.
- Create a role in ESXi namedpower quality.
- Assign the role power quality to the userpowerquality.
What privileges does the rolepower quality require so this user, via an Eaton IPM infrastructure connector, can shut down the VMs and the host?
I've given the user the following permissions:
Root.VirtualMachine.Interact.PowerOn
Root.VirtualMachine.Interact.PowerOff
I wish to allow the minimum set of permissions while still enabling full...
Eaton 5S Output Waveform and Problems on Battery Supply
For the Eaton 5S, how close is the output waveform on battery to a pure sine? I've seen comments on the web that its stepped as well as square. Also, any real world experience with problems using battery power? Half the internet says its fine, the other half says its going shut down the computer and/or break something.
If I had the choice, I would be looking for a unit with a pure sine output but I'm currently overseas in Papua New Guinea and the only local option is the Eaton 5S series.
The power grid has stability issues. Total Wattage I'm looking to cover is 200W (from max power on power supplies), so I'm looking at the 5S 700va/420W. The incidents I'm trying to mitigate are:
- 1-2 min periods of power loss when the grid drops and generator backup starts. I want to keep computer & LCD monitor up during that time
- Brownouts/voltage...
How to solve Voltage Sags and Distorted Input for High Wattage Server Farm?
Hi all,
We have 2 3000VA UPS's (w/ addtl battery stacks) that support our critical infrastructure and servers. Runtime is estimated at 1hr30min. These UPS's frequently (2-10 times a month) report either low voltage or distorted input and switch to battery for less than a minute (maybe just seconds) and then switch right back. Everything behind the UPS's appears fine, never loses power.
The problem is we have 3 BladeCenters, each with Power Supplies totaling 10,000W. These are processing machines that work on tasks that take between 5min and 2hr typically. So, historically we have just always accepted the risk of lost processing if a power outage occurred. No data would be lost, but tasks would have to be restarted. And this is still our stance for actual power outages. But we would like to bridge these small windows of low...

Which UPS for 2 servers and 1 Sybology NAS
Hi guys,
After the last power outage, one of my SMB customers finally decided to replace his old APC Backu-UPS.:)
He has 2 physical HPE servers and 1 Synology NAS. I tried to found one, which is able to shut down all this devices in case of longer power outage. I prefer APC, but I'm not sure about some terms.
SmartConnect:
It's just an cloud based UPS management. Nice to have, but useless for shutting down multiple serverver, right?
SmartSlot and management card:
SMC models doesnt't have Smart slot, so I have to buy SMT. Than I need to add management card (AP9630) to be able to shut down multiple servers via PoerChute Network shutdown app.
Shutting down my Synology:
Can I shut down Synology NAS via USB cable?
SUMMARY:
If I'm correct,APC Smart-UPS 2200VA LCD RM 2U with Network Card will do the job. Can you plase confirm?
1) shut down 2 physical...
ATS and UPS configuration
APC has an ATS FAQ (https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA156201/) where they state that only double conversion on-line UPS should be used behind an ATS (line-interactive UPS is not recommended).
Does this information apply to all ATS products, even from other manufacturers, or is it only applicable to APC products?
We currently have line-interactive APC UPS and ATS, and are seeing the ATS randomly flip sources for no apparent reason, usually on a daily basis. From the FAQ, It seems like both our UPSes being line-interactive is the culprit for the ATS switching.
We are moving offices and my co-workers are looking at Tripp LIte products. Should all ATS be used with on-line UPSes, or is it just limited to APC?
Many thanks!

Help needed to Windows server auto-shutdown with EATON 9PX8000 network UPS
Hi, in my IT room, I have two servers and both are connected to a very large, whole room, EATON 9PX8000 network UPS. On both Windows 2012 R2 Server, I installed the EATON Intelligent Power Protector software that are communicating with the network card of the UPS.
Now, I've read the entire user manual of the UPS and of Eaton Intelligent Power Protector and I can't figure out how can I set a proper auto-shutdown sequence on my 2 servers when I am not in place to perform a manual shutdown.
To put you in context here's a few relevant informations :
- I don't have a power generator as well
- Based on my actual power load (25%), the run-time capacity of my UPS is around 30 minutes
- My two Windows 2012 R2 servers are Hyper-V hypervisor, the 1st server is production, the 2nd server is replication.
- My main hypervisor (1st server) takes a bit more...
Recommendations for Desktop UPS
Hi Everyone, thanks for taking a minute to read this post.
I have been a long time (25+ years) APC customer for desktop UPS needs, but I am decidedly against the recent changes to APC's (desktop) lineup. The cost control measures, the relative reduced capacity and the increased "gimmick" factor of their designs (USB charging ports, etc...) were a sure sign of trouble to come (heck, just in weight alone I knew these new units were not cut from the same block as the older ones), and now I am seeing the failures and premature EOL of recently purchased units.
Running a manufacturing operation in the middle of corn fields, with power coming from two locations, I look at every squirrel as the enemy. Supporting over a hundred desktop systems as well as dozens of production machines, I have tried pretty much all the UPS vendors out there...
TrippLite SMART1500RMXL2UA won't bind to server NIC of choice
Greetings everyone,
I had a challenge today, still unsolved. I built a new server and plugged in a SMART1500RMXL2UA with a USB cable. When I couldn't get the server to recognize the UPS I called support, they had me create a paconfig.ini file to bind UPS to one of the server NIC IP addresses.
It's is now working, but not with the IP address I setup in the paconfig.ini file?
The server has two NIC cards, one for host (static), the other for Hyper-V virtual switch (currently dynamic till I move a VM over). I wanted the UPS to bind to the host IP, but it only seems to want to bind to the Hyper-V NIC IP address.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
