Help selecting UPS Backup and PDUs

Ok I am going crazy with all this UPS selection stuff and trying to figure out what all I need. I am building out a new server room and trying to upgrade some of the systems at the same time. I really could use some help thinking through all this.

Expected needs

Telco (switches and all other 2 post gear) - 2414 WATTS (pulled from APC sizing wizzard so likely worst case scenario)

Rack 1 - main production systems - 3761 Watts - Also pulled from APC

- Currently looking at the UPS it is using 2000-2200 watts

Rack 2 - secondary/test systems - 1400 Watts

- Currently using around 700 Watts

Desired outcome:

Have the systems running for around 10 minutes to allow the generator to kick on or gracefully shutdown. We don't really have much of a budget so price is a big factor in the final decisions. We are planning on setting up all the systems with 208V 1phase power.

Current thoughts:

- Get some Eaton UPSs for the Telco and Rack 1, repurpose a current UPS for Rack 2.

Now for some questions

  1. Would it be better to get 1 6KVA UPS to run Rack 1 or would it be smarter to get 2 3KVAs? We are currently using to 3 KVAs. Price would say the one UPS would be cheaper then 2 but is the loss of redundancy worth it? (Basically a 9PX6K with 1 EBM or 2 9130 RMs + 2 EBMs + 2 Management cards)
  2. I am thinking about getting a Eaton 9130RM with management card for the Telco rack - any better thoughts?

My next fun part is figuring out PDUs

  1. Do people normally just get 1 large (30+ receptical) PDU or 2 smaller ones? and why?
  2. Do you care about mixing brands with PDU and UPS?

Ok I guess I will let things stand at that for now. Let me know if you have any questions.
