UPS selection

Being new to figuring out UPS needs I have referred to the APC website and used the UPS selector tool. However, having discussed this issue with a data center architect, he said it is always not an easy call. so I want to make sure I calculate it correctly and would greatly appreciate input from others.

We are upgrading our IDF to have

2 WS-C3850-12x-48U with 2 SFp-10 each with PWR-C1-1100WAC

3 WS-C3850-48U each with PWR-C1-1100WAC

1 Dell EMC DD2500

1 Cisco 2951 router

The POE switches may use about 200 watts total of inline power each. We would neveruse all5 full POE.

so calculating:

Calculate Watts need to boot switch

30

Watt Global Reserve

223

Watt per switch allows boot sequence

253

Watt per switch to boot

...

Calculate Watts needed for POE

(Total Number Of POE ports X 15.4 Watts (POE) X 1.05 for POE loss)
