Okay, so this just chaps my butt. I have a APC Symmetra LX 8000 kVA with dual battery and power modules. The reason I bought this is due to the redundancy it offers me since I've had batteries and power modules go bad in the past and I thought this would protect me.
But lo and behold, this weekend I kept getting spammed by my UPS that the battery was losing charge. I call APC this morning and went through diags and it appears that both batteries are bad. How is this even possible. He said it appears that they overheated (were reporting a high temperature). What? The temperature in the server closet is around 75F. This unit isn't even 3 years old yet. Is this common?
What's the purpose of having redundancy if the redundant parts all die at the same time? Now I'm running my closet on bypass while a thunderstorm approaches outside.
This is...
