We recently had a rackmount ups go out on us. I've narrowed it down to just bad batteries and have purchased new ones to replace them. Problem is the way their mounted inside the unit. They face each other and practically touch opposing terminals. (Ingenious, I know) There is a gray silicone like substance that is coating each terminal and I can only surmise that it is some sort of insulator. It is hard and somewhat rubbery so I'm guessing its a silicone type product and not an epoxy. It is an EMC brand battery backup. Anybody know what the terminal insulator substance is called I'm having a heck of a time finding something. I was looking at a dielectric silicone substance but don't think that's what I need.
