We got a brand new Eaton 5P 850VA UPS which came to us in a sealed box. The UPS itself works fine, and I do like the display and the easy access to the batteries (although I'm not sure why a line-interactive UPS needs a constantly running fan).
However, there is one major issue with this Eaton UPS: it stinks. Literally. It reeks of the same stingy smell that accompanies many other items that are made in China, and which is caused by so-called "forever chemicals" (named so because they don't break down over time which means the smell does not wear off even after many years) and which are toxic. The smell is so bad that it causes sore throats after some time of exposure, and it makes this UPS completely unfit to be used in the same rooms that are used by humans, or any room, really.
