I am trying to assign a composite power source to my ESXI hosts in IPM and I'm wondering if I am doing it correctly. Creating the composite device was fairly straight forward. In IPM, I went to Settings -> Auto Discovery, selected the two UPSes, clicked Set composite device, gave it a device name, set the Redundancy Mode and the Redundancy Level. Under Settings -> Shutdown, I was able to set my newly created composite device as the power source. So far, so good.
If I understand correctly, I also need to assign the new composite power source to each of my ESXI hosts in Management -> Node Settings under the Shutdown Settings pane. In all of the screenshots that I have seen, the Power Source field is a drop down box. All I see is a blank text box. I can manually enter either the name of the composite device, or complete jibberish and it accepts either way. Anyone encountered this before?
Here are the details of my setup if it helps:
CentOS based IPM virtual appliance v1.28
IPM vCenter Plug-in
Qty 2 - 5PX2200
Qty 3 - ESXI 5.1 hosts
vCenter Server 5.5
