I have a client with a stairwell to a roof, where I'd like to mount a POE switch and uninterruptible power supply.
I've checked with facilities management there and they said an area off to the left could be code compliant (it wouldn't interfere with use of the stairway in any way). Provided I can keep the UPS off the floor and on the wall.
So I started searching for wall-mount UPS devices, and then got to thinking, what if I used one of the wall-mount brackets that allows you to mount a 2U or so rack-mount enclosure to the wall, and then use a rack-mount UPS.
Doing this would mean the UPS wouldn't be horizontal and I'm not sure if they're tested that way or if that would be acceptable use.
But it sure would be flexible as there are lots of rack-mount UPS options out there, so I wouldn't be restricting myself in terms of which UPS brands I...
