I have a single rack-mount server that runs my small business functions. I put an APC Back-UPS Pro 1500VA unit(item BR1500G) behind it and it looks like it did a graceful shutdown using the native Windows 2012 battery settings function during power-outage testing. I have two power supplies in this server and two independent building circuits to plug into. The simulated sine-wave output of this "entry level" UPS works fine with these power supplies. My thought is this:
- Plug the BR1500G into one circuit, and one power supply into the UPS. Do not connect its data cord
- Get another identical unit, plus the add-on battery pack (BR24BPG) which gives it 3X total capacity, and plug in the server using the other power supply. Connect the data cable from the server to this unit, so the server shuts down when this bigger backup gets to my...
