TL;DR I have an APC BackUPS 1500 that seems to be in working order, but is not compatible with the power supplies on my computers (I think). Could I plug in an APC SmartUPS 1000 into the BackUPS 1500 and expect it to work? ie, on a power failure, would the SmartUPS draw from the BackUPS before taxing its own battery?
Would this be safe?
I have two old Dell Optiplex 755s and a white box server (that I keep for a client) that were connected to a single APC SmartUPS 1000. Everything worked great, even when the lights went out.
Then I had to physically separate the server from the Dell workstations, so my client sent me an APC BackUPS 1500.
I tried the BackUPS on the Dell workstations. When the power fails, the workstations go down.
I tried the BackUPS on the server. Without utility power, I can turn on the BackUPS. But I cannot then power on...
