UPS with a 16A inlet into 10A outlet?

On a scalefrom 1 to "To whom it may concern: FIRE!", how bad an idea is it to plug in a UPS with a 16A inlet to a power point feeding it with 10A?

I ask because I'm upgrading our UPS (the one that's in place is one I've loaned - long story) and the server room where we currently are - and we're planning on moving -only has 10A outlets, but our incoming UPS has a 16A inlet. The current UPS is fed by 10A. Am I playing with fire (literally and/or figuratively) by using a 16A cable with a 10A plug to feed this thing with power (which I already have - another long story)?

I ask because, given that we're planning to move, the PTB aren't inclined to spend money where they don't have to (as many PTB are wont to be) so I know I'm not going to be able to convince them to spend for a 16A outlet in the server room.

Thoughts?
