Eaton 5p 850i USB detection issue on UBUNTU

I recently bought one 5p850i UPS to manage power for a small subnet dedicated to routers and miscellaneous devices. The subnet is managed by a Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS machine. To control the subnet shutdown I would like to manage the UPS connecting it via USB. But OS can't recognize it in any manner. I have other usb devices connected to the same machine, regfularly detected: so it seems to be not a machine issue, but a UPS one. Any hint about?
