Daisy chaining UPSs in bypass mode

We recently purchased an APC SMART UPS SRT 8000VA with an AP9626 Step-down transformer, and we just finished getting the unit hardwired and energized yesterday.

Today I discovered that the step-down transformer is DOA, and I have downtime scheduled tomorrow to get everything cut over to the new UPS. Normally, I would just scrub the downtime and reschedule for when we get everything working. The problem is, I need to get the old UPS hardware out of the rack so I can re-rack equipment to make space for a new server that needs to be installed on Monday.

My hope for a work-around would be to take the transformer out and place one of the old UPSs in its place without a battery and running in bypass mode until the new transformer arrives.

I know you shouldn't generally daisy chain any devices not designed to be, but it can't hurt to ask
