Anyone got any experience with desktop class UPSes?
We used to buy APC exclusively, but like a lot of other things these days, they don't seem to be lasting very long, or proving to be the same value they once were. A year or two doesn't seem quite acceptable in the life of a UPS. I am not just speaking of the batteries. Many of our units seem to suffer a chassis failure of some sort, and just squeal despite battery replacement.
We also used to buy third party replacement batteries to get some extra life out of these things, and that worked pretty well for the most part for a while, but no longer a reliable means of refresh. These things are too expensive to purchase for all desktops every year. Not to mention, wasteful disposal.
I'm seeing some "off-brands" carried at local big box stores, but not confident in their performance or...
