At a remote site to me we have a call center that is using an old phone system and software, no support on the the software or phone system as the provider no longer exists. since I started at the company 3 months ago the phone system would randomly reboot. Its on a UPS but its pretty old has no real logging so I can see what if anything occurred. It was not a huge issue as it would come back and all would be fine. but recently its started to go a couple of times a day and when it comes back the licensing is all screwed and required several manual reboots to get it all up and functioning again correctly. Now I'm wondering if the UPS can not handle a power surge or spike which could be causing this. I don't have the agreement of my director to replace the UPS (which I would like) but may be able to get something that's able to sit between the UPS and mains which could monitor the power and thus prove or disprove my theory. and if it proves it I have some evidence to push for a newer better UPS. Is there anything along the lines that anyone knows of?
