We currently utilize TrippLite UPS to manager our servers (Model SMART1500RMXL2UA). Over the weekend the UPS failed and brought down our server. After contacting TrippLite customer server for a warranty repair (UPS is 3 months old) they notified me that since the battery has failed the UPS will not power on even if AC power is provided? WHAT?!?!?
They asked me to get a voltage meter and test the 12V batteries (36V in total for all 3 batteries in series). Since the voltage read 9V they determined that the battery pack was bad and are sending me a new set of batteries.
They mentioned to me that if the batteries do not provide at least 36V of power the UPS will not power on regardless of the power being provided.
I've had batteries fail in numerous UPS systems (APC, etc...) and as long as the unit is plugged in it will still provide power to...
