I have recently installed a APC management card (APC9631) into our UPS. I was curious to see whether or not I can configure our Powerchute Network Shut-down software in the way that I want it to.
Here's a scenario for example:
- I have 5 servers running
- Overnight the AC decides to quit and the temperature within the server room begins to climb.
- Out of the 5 servers, I would like to have one to shut down, before having another shut down after it.
- After one/two servers shutdown, I would like to see whether or not the temperature will decrease enough for the rest of the servers to operate in a comfortable environment before we shut those down.
Given this scenario, it will give me the following:
- Time needed to figure out which servers are of less priority at that point and time
- Low down-time since I can have the majority of the system still functioning while waiting for the A/C to be fixed.
I've been working on finding a solution for this but have not come across much so I was hoping if someone can share their experience with this.
