I have a Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDT that I have had in continuous use since 2013. I replaced the original batteries after around three years and that pair of generic batteries lasted five more years. I found the battery run time dropping off, so I replaced the batteries again in January, this time with genuine Tripp Lite branded RBC51 batteries. After replacing the batteries, The fan seemed to run for an extended period of time. Eventually it went off, but started up again soon after. In the past, the fan only came on when the line power dropped out and the UPS was running on battery. The fan in this unit is annoyingly loud, and can be heard around the house, so I need to find a way to quiet the unit down or replace it. It doesn't seem to matter what the ambient temperature is, and this is a climate where a lot of people don't bother...
