An aging APC Backups-1000 has failed. There was a brief beep interval, about 1 second, but the tone was not continuous.
There was an extended blackout on Sunday, and we knew the battery was depleted going into the blackout. A new replacement APC Backups 1000S arrived late last week. It was plugged in for charging, but not protecting the load. We were hoping to schedule swapping it in.
With utility power now restored, the failed Backups-1000 would not reliably pass utility power to the equipment. Some LEDs turned on the computer, a cursor appeared on the console, but the computer would not boot.
Everything booted without issues with the new APC Backups 1000S. My question is, when utility power is normal, should the Backups-1000 pass uitility power through, even if its batteries are depleted?
