What do techs do in this situation? I am adding a new server and switch to our system. Which means we need a bigger or an extra UPS. I have only 1 NEMA 5-20P outlet in the server room. The larger UPSs that I am looking at (Eaton 5P3000 or APC SMT3000) don't have enough outlets (14 total) for all my equipment and also use a L5-30P input plug.
Based on this situation I see two options:
- I could purchase the bigger UPS and use a power strip to cover the rest of our equipment. My load eventually should be around 1700 Watts (we will be decomissioning some servers). Then purchase an adapter to convert the L5-30P plug into a 5-20P.
- Add a new NEMA 5-20P outlet to my server room and purchase the EAton 5P2200 and split the load between my current Tripp-Lite SMART2200SLT UPS and the new Eaton UPS.
Am I missing something here? Any suggestions?
