I had a UPS unit go bad - or what I thought at the time - with the failed battery warning. The unit was quite old and had bowed out from an old battery being left in too long, I had replaced it but after a while I got that dreaded warning.
I've since put in a brand new full UPS unit, only a couple of months old, and I've got the replace battery warning again, it fails every self test.
Can I determine anything from the serial connection? It doesn't have a network card. I'm beginning to wonder if I have a power delivery issue in that rack that's causing UPS batteries or units to die. Annoyingly the supplier won't replace until they themselves have confirmed the fault, so I'm hesitant to just put another one in for it to die again. Has anyone else had this happen? I find it very odd that it goes bad after a couple of months.
