Hi,
Need a new UPS for a site. Normally only have a small number of physical servers in any given site, maybe 2 or 3 server machines and a NAS.
Obviously most UPS come with a USB port that can connect to a single physical machine and instruct it (via software) to gracefully shut down in event of power loss. Then there are those that accept network cards (which I've found to be costly and troublesome in the past, and die quite often) and these can then shutdown multiple servers.
Is there such a thing as a single UPS that connect by USB to a single physical host and then that host can act as a sort of master, sending instruction to some kind of agent on other hosts (via the standard mgmt network) and get them to shut down as well, without the use of the UPS network cards?
Thanks.
