UPS fails on power event. Other servers are fine!

So a few years ago, as part of my ongoing quest to put best practices in place, I got APC UPSs for all my servers. We're only talking about a few machines, it's a small office building. But since then, whenever we had a power event like a short hiccup, all the servers have stayed up except one, where the UPS went out. In some cases the UPS seemed to fail completely, and others it appeared fine. This is different UPSs over the years, on different servers. One by one my UPSs have left us, and so more and more of our servers have no UPS now. Thing is, in the last couple of cases, a power hiccup would bring down one UPS, but all the unprotected servers would stay up. Replacement batteries were always bought when required. I never really took it up with APC at the time, I don't remember why. I've not been too keen to spend money to make it MORE likely that my servers go down, so I've been putting off this question for a while. Do I start again and get UPSs for everything like I know I'm supposed to? How do I work out what was going on so it could stop? I can't think of any pattern to which UPS would fail, and it's over a period of years so hard to diagnose. Any casual thoughts would just help kick my thinking back out of this loop of not knowing what to do. Thanks
