I'm becoming increasingly unhappy with APC UPSes after some failures and them pulling some silly stunts with their PowerChute software (eg, it refusing to install on a Hyper-V server).
So, I'm looking for recommendations. Whatever it is I need it to work well with spiceworks, of course. Desirable attributes:
- Suitable for servers (Dell PowerEdge 1900 initially)
- Serial interface (not USB)
- Replacement batteries shouldn't be insanely overpriced
- Easy to install and manage
- Easy to 'hot swap' batteries without moving the unit
- 'Smart' - i.e. can work out the battery condition and reliably estimate the available run time
- Should not be able to 'cut its own throat', i.e. when doing a self test it should not cause a power failure!
One of my customers likes to read reviews and has come up with a Cyberpower model (CP1500EAVRLCD-UK - has anyone used those? Any opinions?
I'm sure that if I asked 100 IT guys I would get 100 different answers, but I'm interested in what you all think.
Thanks,
